Born out of the renaissance of Detroit, Prime + Proper is a modern interpretation of the
classic American Steakhouse. Prime + Proper offers a marriage of traditional Steakhouse fare with
elevated contemporary culinary mastery. We provide a truly remarkable experience through
enlightened hospitality, premier product, and unrivaled attention to detail, which is our purpose.
 
 
MISSION
Inspired by the mannerisms of someone who is ‘prim and proper’, meaning formal, respectful
and distinguished, we elected to expand on this idea, incorporating our passion for integrity and quality. 
‘Prime’ not only represents our selection of prime meats, it is also the very definition and representation 
of our concept. ‘Proper’ describes every facet of our genuine dedication and obsession to the art of
hospitality, what it means to truly value our guests and every detail in the execution of our service to
provide an unprecedented experience.
 
Space
Built in 1912, the Capitol Park Loft building now houses Prime + Proper, perfectly encapsulating
our mission and vision. Every aspect, including where we chose to call our “home”, has been
determined to reflect three things; luxury, history and exquisite detail. Much like our concept, which
pays homage to the classic American Steakhouse but with modern elements, we have ensured
that historic aspects of this property are to be preserved and maintained.
From a romantic park view that once was home to our State’s Capitol in 1800, to the original
marble staircase illuminating the patina brass, Prime + Proper gives life to design elements
that have been lost over time. We are alive with modern influences, enchanting textures and most importantly,
the aura of an age that must never be forgotten. With these impeccable details, Prime + Proper artfully
combines bold with refined sophistication, setting forth the new standard for steakhouses to come.
