George's Lounge is second only to Bender's Tavern as the oldest continually operating bar in Downtown Canton, but it's first in the hearts of many. George?s has provided a place to hang out with friends or make new ones for more than 50 years.
George's Lounge first opened on the corner of Piedmont and 3rd in 1959 by owner-operator, George Lungociu. It was a great time to be in Downtown Canton, and George's found quick success. 
Before long, the bar had a loyal following. This was thanks in part to the regular patronage of Lungociu's 3 brothers and their friends. 
 
Customers of George?s have appreciated the friendly atmosphere epitomized by its iconic 40-seat oval bar. However, the bar was not added until 1972 when George's Lounge relocated to it's current spot at 229 Cleveland Avenue.
Another favorite of patrons is the classic jukebox that has entertained crowds for years (and still plays great old tunes).
 
George's Lounge been around to see a lot of changes in Downtown Canton over the years, and will be around for many more. The Canton Arts District has recently sprung up around George's, and it's location places it right in the middle of the Downtown Canton Historic District. George's has embraced its role in the Arts District with a mural of art covering the front and live bands playing every week.
George's kitchen took a rest for a few years, but now it's back and better than ever. Our hand-crafted foods are the perfect complement to a refreshing beverage. It?s no secret that George?s Lounge is known for great drinks at a low price. We carry the largest $2 beer menu of any bar downtown, as well as craft beers (including some made in the great state of Ohio). A wide range of quality liquors and spirits fill our shelves, and select wines are available.
 
 
The historic success and longevity of this treasured downtown hangout was achieved by creating a comfortable environment for friends to enjoy each other?s company. George?s promises to continue serving old and new customers alike by providing terrific service and an enjoyable atmosphere.
