Matt Slezak Chef de Cuisine A familiar fixture at BLT Steak over the last six years, Matt Slezak became the restaurant’s Chef de Cuisine in Winter 2016 and brings a fierce energy to the kitchen with his passion for chef-driven, locally-sourced dishes. Matt is deeply invested in the North Carolina food scene as a native of Charlotte and graduate of Johnson & Wales University. He got his start in the restaurant business at the age of 15 and spent several years as a sous chef in Boone, N.C., before working with renowned French chef Daniel Boulud in Palm Beach, Fl., and joining BLT Steak in 2010. After several years with the steakhouse, Matt took a leave of absence to hone his skills in New York at Rouge Tomate – one of just a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants in the United States – and returned to Charlotte with a renewed vigor for his craft. His goal for BLT Steak is to make sure guests leave satisfied with the restaurant’s always-fresh ingredients and menu selection. An avid traveler and motorcyclist, Miles currently lives in the Queen City’s Plaza-Midwood neighborhood.
